Bret Harte will be having Career Day for the 8th-grade students on March 20th from 9 to noon. Our goal is to have professionals from all backgrounds and types of careers to provide insight and inspiration to our 8th graders of the opportunities available to them after school.
You don’t need to prepare a formal presentation, this is a Q&A session. If you have a profession that you are passionate about and would like to share it with our 8th-grade student community - please contact us or sign up directly at the sign up page.
Cultural Fair
The Cultural Fair will be held on Friday, May 01, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, with the theme of Holidays Around the World. We need your help to make the cultural fair a part of Bret Harte again. So far, we have booths for 13 countries. Please do not hesitate to contact our chairs if you can be a booth leader or volunteer for the fair. Booth leaders are looking for any type of help. The cultural fair committee also needs additional help to run the fair. This fair would not be possible without your help. Details and future meeting information are available at BHCC's website.

Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Bret Harte parent club hosted Staff Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday February 13th. We catered Italian food from Olive Garden. Bret Harte teachers and staff enjoyed pasta, bread, Italian salad, chicken parmesan and variety of desserts. Thanks to parent volunteers who donated online and to parents who brought homemade cupcakes and cookies to show appreciation to Bret Harte teachers and staff. BHCC Staff Appreciation Lunch co chairs helped out to make this event a success.
Scholastic Book Fair
This year’s Scholastic Book Fair was a great success thanks to all the avid readers who purchased more than 500 books. There were many familiar faces visiting multiple times throughout the week -- a very good sign of our Broncos interest in books! We are grateful to the teachers who made book recommendations and who brought their classes to the fair. Their encouragement of reading surely has a lasting impact on our students. Our appreciation goes out to the many volunteers who made the fair possible by setting up the products, running the cash registers, and supervising the students among other tasks. Because of the All for Books donations we took at the book fair, we were able to purchase books that will be donated to the sister school Doris Dillon School in Cambodia.
Project Cornerstone: Responsibility
Bret Harte's February Cornerstone Awards Ceremony was a nice event before the winter break. This month we honored 18 students who were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating the character asset of "Responsibility" on campus. They were nominated because they have shown responsible behavior in & out of the classroom. These students act with little guidance or supervision. They can be trusted and depended upon to do the right thing. And they hold themselves accountable and answerable to their own behavior. These students received personal recognition from the Bret Harte staff, teachers and principal at a ceremony in front of their parents on February 6th. We were grateful to have the chance to celebrate these role models within our Bret Harte community.
