BHCC Career Fair: May 4th, 2022
Bret Harte Community Club (BHCC) invites you for an exciting volunteering opportunity to showcase your professional journey
BHCC Career Fair
Where: Online ( Zoom link will be shared)
What: Volunteers will record a 5 minutes video sharing their journey and what excites them about their profession (instructions below)
How: Career fair organizers will share volunteers speaker's video recordings via a Career Fair weblink with all the Bret Harte students. All the videos will be available for a week. Then, We will have an online interactive Q&A session for kids with volunteer speakers.
When: The Live Q&A session is tentatively planned for a weekday evening (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM, PST), on May 4th, 2022.
How to volunteer?
As a parent of a middle school student, if you wish to share your thoughts and ideas about your careers, we would love to hear from you! If you are interested and willing to provide a video by April 20th, 2022, please fill out this form.

- For suggestions about content that you may want to include in your video, click here.
- You can address the students in your video recording in an informal format, or on-site at your place of work. You could even screen-record a presentation.
- Once recorded, upload your videos to a cloud storage platform (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc). Then, email this link to [email protected].

BHCC Career Day - Presentation/Video content suggestions
Points you might want to include in your presentation/video:
- A brief introduction of yourself and your background that led to your current career/job
- Description of your career
- Education required (it will be good highlight the importance of lifelong learning)
- Skills needed
- Positive and negative aspects of your career (meeting a lot of people, lot of traveling, working during holidays, mostly outdoor work, always on screen, etc)
- Salary range and benefits you have
- Challenges you face in your job
- Extra curricular activities that helped you
- What do you like the most and the least about your job?
- What courses in your high school helped you prepare for the career you have
- Suggest any extra curricular activities, volunteer work or a part time job that might help to prepare for a career in your field
- Do you think your job career might change in 10 years from now?
- Are there many opportunities in your career field?
- Is your career/job available in only certain geographical locations?
- What advice would you give a student who is considering your type of career?
