During this unusual time of distance learning, we would like to continue to support our teachers and students. We hope to provide teachers with distance learning supplies and PPE, continue to recognize outstanding student and teacher effort, provide virtual parent education, and fund other programs and needs as they arise. We are asking for a $150 donation or any amount that you are able to contribute. There are multiple ways to donate:
Indicate your student's name(s) in the Memo field so we can associate the donation with your child

The PEST (Parents Encouraging Staff & Teachers) Program is a Staff Appreciation Program. PESTs are a group of parent volunteers who support our wonderful staff and teachers. There are no meetings to attend and you participate on your own schedule. It's a great way to brighten someone's day!
PEST volunteers will be assigned a staff member or teacher and given some information about him or her. The parent then supports their staff member or teacher throughout the school year. This year everything will be virtual. You can send quick emails of encouragement, holiday messages, an e-gift card birthday surprise and/or other gestures of appreciation on a regular basis (about once or twice a month). Be as creative and funny as you want! If your teacher loves dogs, take a picture of your dog with a "THANK YOU!" sign around his neck. If you are a PEST for a Social Studies teacher, have your student dress up as one of the historical figures they are learning about and send a video of them saying a heartfelt message of appreciation. If your teacher is a SF 49ers fan, send a photo of your family dressed up in 49ers jerseys with signs reading "YOU ARE THE BEST!" It’s super fun and easy and really brightens their day! See photos of happy teachers from last year receiving gifts from their PESTs and testimonials on how much they appreciate the PEST Program at the PEST Website!
The BHCC is delighted to partner with the Leland Parent Club to share a parents education event on the topic "Communication that Strengthens Relationships" on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at 7 pm.
What is your purpose for conversing with your teens? How do your teenagers experience and respond to your efforts to chat with them? Becoming more aware of how we express our thoughts and feelings as well as how we listen is fundamental to having a positive connection with them. During this seminar, we will explore how we communicate, what underlying messages we might transmit verbally and nonverbally, and how we can repair hurts we might have caused. Learning and applying the characteristics of effective communication can engender healthy and happy relationships with our teens.
