In the P.E.S.T.program, a parent supports a specific teacher or staff on a monthly basis with a card or a small gift. Parents will be provided with information about the favorite things of teachers or staff. Some teachers mentioned that a gift does not have to be something costly, and a small card with warm words will be very encouraging. You’ll deliver the cards and gifts anonymously to the teacher / staff mailbox in the school office. By the end of the year you may reveal yourselves during the volunteer appreciation lunch.
We currently need 25-30 more parents to make the PEST program going this year! Sign up here or email to our program chairs for more information!

Please see the below testimonial from RFF (Request for Funding) recipient, Social Studies Teacher, Ms. Robles.
"The Bret Harte Community Club RFF Program has been instrumental in helping me create an effective learning environment by providing the resources necessary to make teaching accessible and fun for all students. The RFF program has funded a chrome cart, butcher paper, project supplies, and kits, board games, books, a microphone system, a DVD player with a surround sound system, a projector, a document camera, a class set of computer mice and headphones, and so much more. The RFF program gives me the freedom to create enriching, interactive, engaging, and interesting lessons that would not be possible without the funding and support from the community. My class and the student experience would not be the same without the help given to me from the community through the RFF program"
While we have asked for $250 per student to help support RFF as well as many other programs, any amount is appreciated. You can contribute by downloading the form and paying by check or by using PayPal. Both options can be found by visiting the Membership Drive page of the BHCC website. Thank you for your support!

Staff Appreciation Luncheon (October)
Bret Harte Community Club hosted Staff Appreciation lunch on October 23rd. We catered Mexican food from Rubio's Coastal Grill. Bret Harte teachers and staff enjoyed chips and salsa appetizer, and hot lunch as build your own tacos, salad, beans & rice, and assorted dessert. We would like to thank all the parents who donated money and brought dessert. Staff Appreciation co-chair and a few board members helped out to make this event a success.
Project Cornerstone
Bret Harte's first Cornerstone Awards Ceremony for the year was a huge success! This month we honored 26 students who were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating the character asset of "Respect" on campus. They were nominated because they have shown consistent consideration of others on campus, treating others how they would like to be treated. They are courteous and accept others based upon their individuality. These students received personal recognition from the Bret Harte staff, teachers and principal at a ceremony in front of their parents on October 10th. Despite the power being out ... we were able to show the students the respect they deserve, that they are consistently showing others.
